Established in 2017 by Isreal Unger the Urban Fresh Farm's vision is to incubate a housing initiative pilot program where residents can get houses and 3 city lots of land to farm on through it's farm incubator program. Isreal has researched and purchased 5 acres of property from the Genesee County Landbank to have the space to grow. His improvements started in April 2017 with tilling and adding 30 yards of compost to improve the soil conditions of his farm. He is currently growing kale, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, and peppers for his personal use and is one of the farmers growing produce for the Flint Fresh Veggie Box program.
His future plans are to expand all 5 acres of farming land available to individuals wishing to grow for production and add hoophouses to extend the growing season.
