Originally established in 2016 by Greg Gaines, the St. Luke’s N.E.W. Life Center garden was taken over by Tim, a retired Dr. in 2017. The garden was planted with the help of volunteers to increase St. Luke’s program participant’s awareness of and comfort around gardening and healthy food. St. Luke’s N.E.W. Life Center has a food pantry and serves meals within the center. The garden provides fresh healthy produce for the food pantry and helps reduce waste with the compost bin added in 2017. The garden grows beans, tomatoes, pumpkins, green, cucumbers and squash.
Future plans for the garden include adding a hoophouse and a training program for food production and transplant growing.
