United By Mother Nature
Art By: Marin Beardslee A Rootless Coffee and Edible Flint Collaboration Minas Gerais, Brazil and Flint, Michigan. Two entirely different places, climates, languages, cultures, foods, and people. But there is something that the two locations both unitedly share; Earth, our home and also known as Mother Nature. We walk on her, we run on her, we build on her, we live on her, and we grow on her. We not only grow our food from her soil but we are connected to her as soon as we are born and as soon our feet hit the soft ground beneath. Rootless Coffee Co. sources their coffee straight from Minas Gerais, Brazil. They grow entirely different fruits and vegetables versus what we grow in Flint, Michigan. I thought of no better way than to incorporate into my piece the combination of Brazil and Michigan, two places that are not normally intertwined, by creating a piece that combined both Brazil and Michigan's most grown fruits and vegetables. From Brazil there is acai, passion fruit, jabuticaba, guarana, siriguela, chuchu, and malagueta peppers. From Michigan there are tomatoes, kale, green peppers, asparagus, and turnips. Using the women of Brazil as my inspiration to create a face for mother nature, I incorporated all the fruits and vegetables into one cohesive piece. Together they symbolize unity and social equity. All of them together in the picture are living harmoniously as the sun sets. It is essential in our life's journey that we connect with mother nature. Wherever we are from at the end of the day we all come from the earth, it is our one united home. |

About the Coffee
Farm Story: Paubrasil is transparently certified as part of the Regiao Cerrado Mineiro Designation of Origin program. Coffees certified with the Designation of Origin are grown on farms in an area encompassing 55 municipalities that produce coffees with a unique identity, resulting from the combination of climate, soil, terrain, elevation, and the “know-how” of producers. Paubrasil’s contributing producers belong to one of nine cooperatives or six associations affiliated with the Cerrado Coffee Growers Federation, have signed a statement of good practices in accordance with Brazilian labor laws, and store coffee in accredited warehouses post-harvest.
The Brazil Paubrasil has all the classic attributes of a delicious coffee from Cerrado Mineiro: creamy, sweet, mellow acidity, and full of dried fruit, chocolate and toasted nut. As an espresso, this coffee will produce a thick, syrupy shot with plenty of crema. As a drip coffee, expect a round, sweet, and chocolatey cup.
Cupping notes:
Nutty Cocoa, Fruity, Cocoa, Nutty, Dried Fruit, Dark Chocolate, Almond, Cherry
