Established in 2014 after edible flint was approached to assume management of the Hurley Community Garden. The Demonstration Garden is a project of edible flint and is the site of many projects and programs throughout the year. Thanks to the volunteer hours of the garden manager Ginny and volunteer Scott along with additional individual and institutional volunteers, the garden was able to donate 1500 lbs. of fresh healthy produce to its in 2016. The Demo Garden has become a place Flint residents depend on to access fresh, healthy produce. The garden, with a lease and generous grant from the Hurley Foundation, was able to expand in 2017 and added 10 u-pick raised garden.
The future plans for the garden is to increase the growing space to donate more produce to local residents and The Hurley Food Pharmacy.
