Food Garden Tour
The Food Garden Tour is an annual event where participants travel by bus or bike to a variety of food gardens in Flint and the surrounding areas. The Food Garden Tour Work Group coordinates this event in an effort to celebrate innovative and inspiring food gardens in the Flint ares.
Purpose & Goals
Purpose: To celebrate innovative and inspiring food gardens in the Flint area.
The Food Garden Tour work group was an off shoot of Growing the Network and its scope quickly grew into a full fledged work group. We meet throughout the year in collaboration with other groups to bring a unified approach to the Food Garden Tour by collaborating with other workgroups and involving all edible flint participants. The first edible flint garden tour event took place in 2009, increasing in scale and scope in 2010. In 2011 sponsorships were an added element, as the event continued to grow and increase edible flint’s recognition in our community.
The Annual Food Garden Tour is planned by the Food Garden Tour work group. The tour occurs each year and highlights Flint’s food gardens.
Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Thursdays 2:00pm- 4:00pm at The Neighborhood Engagement Hub 3216 M.L. King Ave
Weekly meetings occur in the month or so prior to the tour, and can take place several times in the week leading up to the tour.
