Edible Flint and MSU Extension are excited to offer programming for youth at the Educational Farm
Children's Days at the Farm 2026
Children’s Days at the Edible Flint Educational Farm is a free, hands-on youth program where children and families learn about growing food, harvesting vegetables, soil health, and healthy eating habits through interactive farm activities. Kids explore the garden through planting vegetables, observing insects, tasting fresh produce, and learning how food grows.
The program connects children to the land through sensory experiences and outdoor learning, helping them build curiosity about gardening, healthy food, and the natural environment while engaging with local educators and community partners.
Each Children's Day at the Farm features different activities such as planting, harvesting, story time, craft tables, farm tours and free play experiences.

SPROUTS - Youth Programming
The Sprouts Program is a structured educational experience designed specifically for organized youth groups such as schools, home school groups, Head Start, Early On programs, and other youth-serving organizations. Groups schedule a visit to the farm and participate in a curated curriculum aligned with their age group.
Activities may include planting seeds, exploring soil and worms, observing pollinators and insects, harvesting seasonal produce, tasting fresh foods from the garden, and learning how plants grow. Each visit follows a thoughtfully curated curriculum that connects children to the natural world while reinforcing concepts related to nutrition, environmental stewardship, and where food comes from.
The program is designed to support early childhood and youth education by providing experiential learning that many children may not otherwise have access to. By spending time in the garden and on the farm, students engage their senses, build curiosity about healthy food, and develop a deeper understanding of agriculture and the local food system. For many groups, the experience serves as a farm-based field trip that complements classroom learning while giving children meaningful time outdoors.
